Playground World

I ran into a homeschooling mom who mentioned that this coming Thursday (Nov. 4th) Playground World will have "open gym" from 1-3. It will be $5 per kid, kids under 2 are free. Just thought I would pass along the info in case anyone is interested in getting their kids some run-around time

Planetarium Details...

Here are a few of the details about the Planetarium trip... I will post more by Wednesday.

There will be two shows... the first one will be a live presentation about the sun and seasons the second one will be a multi-media show about stargazing (see below for the BGSU descriptions of the shows). Dale, the man running the planetarium at BGSU, said he recommends 1st through 5th grade but will tailor the show to our audience. He also suggested making sure that the kids know their directions (north, south, east, west) before coming.

The total cost for both shows is $2 per person (if you choose to only go to one show it will still be $2 per person). The first show will start promptly at 1:30, be followed by a stretch/bathroom break and the second show will conclude by 3:30 or 4. Please be aware that you will need to allow time for parking and that it costs $5 per car. On Monday November 1st I will e-mail out a list of who is coming so you can arrange your own carpool if you would like. Please let Rebekah Wing or Julie Morgan know if you would like to come and be sure to get your money to either of us by Thursday November 4th.

The seating capacity is 118 people so it is first come first serve :)

other things to note - no food, no cell phones, no flash photography, or flashing SHOES are allowed

The BGSU descriptions....
The sun and seasons - a lesson on how the sun moves across our sky in different seasons and why there are seasons. The sun's sky path at other latitudes is also shown in order to illustrate the midnight sun and the opposite seasons of the southern hemisphere. The lessons begins with an explanation of why the Sun shines.

amazing stargazing - a light-hearted and comprehensive guide to sky watching, covering constellations, the Sun the Moon , the planets, and other sights of the night sky (196 slides plus video, 35+ minutes)

Free Booster Seat

I have a tall booster seat to anyone who could use it.  It's the kind with the back.  If you have questions about it, feel free to ask.  It is actually my from Sally, my mother-in-law and she would be able to answer questions about it better than I.  BUT it's sitting in my foyer, staring at me every time I walk by it, so it will only be here until Wednesday afternoon (the 20th).   Then it will be blessing someone at Savers!

Free Picaboo Photo Book Offer

Picaboo is rewarding new customers with a free 8.5×11 Hardcover Photo Book (20 pages) using the coupon code FALLBK (up to $39.99 value) if this is your first purchase with Picaboo. You do need to pay $8.99 shipping (which will take 3 to 5 days) plus applicable sales tax. You do need to download their design software (it’s not designed on their website), but it’s easy to use (and faster to access the photos on your computer).  This coupon code expires on Monday, October 25

I did this at the end of August, I love it. The shipping time was accurate too.  The book is on my coffee table and others pick it up and ooh and ahh over it too.  I would absolutely recommend this product.  It took me about a week (on and off) from the time I started as there are lots of options for backgrounds and page layouts to play with.  You could do it in less time if you've done it before but if you like to walk away from a project, go back, change things around, etc.  I would recommend starting today!

FYI:  I learned of this in my email today from "Freebies 4 Mom" (you don't have to be a mom though.)  I would say 4 out of 7 days there are "free" (usually have to pay S&H) photos or photobooks of some kind or another you can get from various places. So if you are a interested, you can sign up your own self!
Here are click-by-click instructions if you need them:
2. Click “Submit!” (gray button)
3. Coupon code FREEBK appears on the screen (they also email it to you)
4. Click “Get Started Now” (green button)
5. Click “Launch Picaboo” (black button) to install Picaboo on your computer (they also email you instructions).
6. Start designing your free photo book, this offer expires on Monday, October 25.
